I've been trying to find a solution to the fact that the search function in my Finder is no longer working (another problem) and discovered that System Preferences is missing. This all happened after I updgraded my operating system to Ventura 13.0.1 a couple of weeks ago. Any thoughts?

Thanks. When I opened System Settings it did have some of the same features, but the appearance was different - not as easy to use as the old box view I was used to. I just have to keep up with the changes...

Yes, it has changed in Ventura. It actually has all the same features.
As perviously mentioned and can be found in two locations as per images below
First image is from the Dock
Second image from Launchpad
Third is from the Search in the of main Menu Bar of Desktop
System Preferences is now System Settings in Ventura.
