Unable to take calls without AirPods

When a call comes in I am unable to answer the call on the phone itself. I can accept the call but cannot hear the caller and they cannot hear me. I am only able to answer with my AirPods. I have tried turning off Bluetooth and this happens even when the AirPods are out of range. When answering I do not even get the option of speakerphone.

If you have a hearing or sound issue on your device then please try some of these processes to set it right

If the above options do not mitigate the issues then Contact your carrier and then Contact Apple Support
