Alert Tone for the Weather App

Why is the alert tone so quiet and different now? Is there any way to change it back to the old sound? We are in a high-risk area of tornadoes, which we experienced tonight. We all noticed that our updated iPhones did not have the usual alert alarm tone and were not loud at all. I have my alerts turned on, and my volume was maxed out, and yet it only beeped for 3 seconds and then automatically cut off. This is so concerning!
