Connecting an iPhone to a VPN, and lightning to ethernet at the same time.

Would it be possible to remotly connect to an iPhone via a VPN, and access devices that are connected to the iPhone via a lightning-ethernet adapter?

I'm trying to give remote support on a system, but i can't figure out what this is called or how this would work.
