Scaled option in Displeys System settings not available

Hello,

I would like to increase size of text on my Mac Mini 2020 running MacOS 13 Ventura. I am following instrutions Make it easier to see what’s on the screen of your Mac – Apple Support (UK).

However, I do not see any Scaled option available in the window. My mac is connected via HDMI cable to external monitor Benq, the monitor works properly. Can you please help me?

Thanks.

Hello,

thanks for your answer, however I found this paragraph on apple support page:

Make text bigger on your Mac
Scale your display’s resolution to make text and objects appear larger: On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Displays in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) Click the pop-up menu next to Resolution on the right, choose Scaled, then select one of the Larger Text options to the left of Default.

I understood, this will do exactly, what I need, is it not an equivalent to windows settings?

The important element was in the users earlier reply " Where can I change settings to scale the font size"

The Appearance on the Display may appear to our Eyes as Larger Font but the Font itself remains Unchanged

Nor can it be Enlarged

In my years on Apple Computer, since about 2004 to this very day.

The System Wide Font Size has never been about to make the Font from say Point 12 Font to Point 14 Font which is what the user is asking to do.

To explain in an illustration below.

We have a Document with hard to read font size and we use a magnifying glass between our eyes and the document.

We look on the document and the font appears larger and we can read it fine.

Has the Font Size actually changed ?

No, that is what the Scaling Up actual does

I tried to play with the available resolutions, but the results are mixed - it is not rendered very well and the text is blurred. The only working one is 1280x720, which is too small.

Could you please provide me with some advice, on how to make the text and icons of MacOS menus and toolbars more readable? On Ubuntu I have several options - to activate "Large text" option, to use "fractional scaling".

I am kind of disappointed with the overall Mac experience so far, I expected something much superior to windows or the current ubuntu. For me basic things are not working here in MacOS, like when I open a photo, I can use arrows to move to next, no shortcuts to moving windows around the workspace and I can go on and on... Totaly not a boost for my productivity.

A1 - That advise has been shared previously

A2 - Then, perhaps the experience on macOS is not a Best Fit for this user and may consider moving to another Environment

A3 - Or the expectations of the user are not realistic in which case, refer back to A2 above.
