Notifications are silenced in Focus but go through to watch’s notification center

When using Focus (either custom or existing), notifications of silenced apps activates the red dot and go through the watch Notification Center.

They don’t create an alert, but still go through the Notification Center.

I’d expect a behavior similar to the iPhone in the theme of “while in focus…” notifications, or just not showing at all.

Is there a way to set this?

Thank you

Hello ofek34,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. The notification settings for apps on the Apple Watch will mirror itself from the settings on the paired iPhone. You can custom the notifications to appear in the Notification Center, sent directly to the Notification Center without sound or displaying the notification and lastly, you can turn notifications off. Here's more information:

Choose how apps send notifications
1. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
2. Tap My Watch, then tap Notifications.
3. Tap the app (for example, Messages), tap Custom, then choose an option. Options may include:
Allow Notifications: The app displays notifications in Notification Center.
Send to Notification Center: Notifications are sent directly to Notification Center without your
Apple Watch making a sound or displaying the notification.
Notifications Off: The app sends no notifications.

These details are outlined in this article: Change notification settings on Apple Watch - Apple Support

Best regards.

Hi bryanr14,

Thank you for your reply. I am familiar with the watch notifications settings, but I am referring specifically to the behavior of notifications while using Focus.

For example, let’s say that notifications from the Messages app are disabled under the “Work” Focus mode. The expected behavior on the iPhone is to not display notifications from Messages in the Notification Center (or hide them under “While in Work Focus” summary).

I am looking for the corresponding behavior on the Watch, i.e., have the notification from Messages not appear in the Notification Center and not activate the red dot, and without switching off all notifications for the app.

Thank you for taking the time to help me with this issue!
