Google shared calendar invitations for all my colleagues events

we use G suite at work. I am an admin of our account. I subscribe to all my teams shared calendars and since ios16 release, I now receive 100’s of calendar notifications from my teams calendars even though I’ve not been invited to that meeting.

this has never happened prior to ios16 and I have not changed anything else, so it must be ios16 causing this issue.

It’s an absolute nightmare and I am not able to use the calendar app - I have had to use Google’s app. Which isn’t ideal as I like to view my family & work calendars together and also have my calendar on my watch, which I am unable to do, because of this issue.

Has anyone managed to solve this issue? I’ve seen loads of others reporting this, but can’t find any good reasons or acknowledgement of the issue.

I know I am a bit late to the party on this one, but as a Google Workspace Domain Admin, I too have experienced this issue and found a solution:

1. Turn Off Google Calendar Sync in iOS Settings:

    • Navigate to Settings > Calendar > Accounts on your iOS device.
    • Select your Google account, disable the calendar sync, and confirm to delete all Gmail calendars from the device.

2. Force Close the iOS Calendar App:

    • Although probably not necessary, I recommend force closing the app to ensure the settings take effect cleanly (double press the Home button and swipe the Calendar app off the screen).

3. Check Google Calendar Subscriptions:

    • Via the Google Calendar web page, ensure you are not subscribed to any suspended or archived users' calendars. Unsubscribe from them if necessary.

4. Adjust Google Calendar Sync Settings:

    • Visit the Google Calendar sync settings page directly at Google Calendar Sync Select.
    • Unselect all calendars except for those you need and click 'Save.'

5. Re-enable Google Calendar Sync on iOS:

    • Return to Settings > Calendar > Accounts, select your Google account, and turn the calendar sync back on.

This procedure should ensure you only receive notifications for invites to your own account. Please note that you may still receive notifications for any past invites that you have not yet responded to.

Hope this helps everyone!
