Hi,
I've tried over and over again to delete a message by going to Mail-Preferences-Accounts-mailbox behaviour-trash mailbox and selected on my mac trash bin. The message keeps coming back over and over again ....... anyone have any other suggestions? and it's the macOS High Sierra, yeah machine getting old :)

OK something is messed up.
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
Does it work in the new account?

Click on the up.down arrows at the right end of Trash, is there a choice for iCloud.>Trash or iCloud.>Deleted Items?
In Safe Mode did iCloud show above Trash???
We need to see what all is running, a report from this will not display any personal info...

When you press on the arrows, does it show iCloud right above All Trash?
What is the full path to the trash & is the eMail you're trying to trash actually in an On MyMac Mailbox to start with?
in the safe mode worked there but came back in my regular login - and created new admin and wasn't able to migrate the mail from my service provider ? this morning the ghost email is back! My operating system is Ventura 13.1
I'm now working on the IMAC 24 same email is haunting me .... I've tried all the options
my options are -
on my mac
or all trash
been trying both
No option for icloud
Thank you so much, I will come back to this when I'm able to mid-January as the holiday season is upon us. Again thanks and I will learn to live with my ghost email in the meantime ;)
