macOS Monterey installation fails

I've tried multiple times to download and install Monterey from the App Store. The download appears to complete, but after a long wait I get an error message says that the "Installation Failed".

I've read previous posts about this, tried it in Safe Mode and got the same result. I have around 60GB of disk space available.

Any suggestions?

Depending on certain key factors this may occur if the Computer is using an After Market Internal Drive.

This issue is not that the computer qualifies to run Monterey but that the Monterey Installer contains an EFI Boot ROM that is verifying if an Original Apple Drive is present on the computer.

If it does not find the Original Apple Drive - it will fail and continue to fail until that Apple Original Drive is re-installed

The Boot ROM when successfully installed along with Monterey will Flash the Computer and Not the Drive itself and thus satisfying Apple Requirements.

Different machine same Sophos protection on ?

Same advise and perviously mentioned only with a bit more details

There are no known Windows-like Viruses in the wild that self replicate and affect macOS, because of the underling UNIX  Foundation and Permission Limitation.

Additionally, and specific to Big Sur macOS 11,  Monterey macOS 12, Ventura macOS 13, the Operating System resides in a Sealed and Read Only Volume that can not be opened by the User and protects against from “ Bad Actor “ Software.

The Only thing this Antivirus software is protecting is the Bank Account of the Developers and for zero return to the User aside from the problems this software creates.

AntiVirus Developers purposefully Market their product to create a “ Fear Factor “. In so doing, creating a False Need for their Product.

The The Built in Security  is all that is required to protect the computer.

Any Third Party Applications that will interfere with the normal operation of the OS,  is an invitation for disaster and comprise the Operating System

Certain Applications maybe available on the Apple Apps Store - this only means the Developer is prepared to pay Apple a portion on each sale. What the Application may do to the computer is up to the User to check this out before purchase

Any of the below should be removed as per Developers Instructions

Tried Ethernet connection, got the same results.

Between yesterday and today I have tried to download Monterey at least 8 times, and I get exactly the same result each time - Software Update progress bar goes to around 80%, it says "12.40GB of 12.40GB", then it sits there for around 5-10 minutes, then gives the error message.

I tried it with Sophos protection on and off, wi-fi and hardwire internet connection, held my mouth several different way, nothing works.

Any other ideas? I'm trying to create an external drive I can boot from.
