Recent IOS update has silenced Siri

Before doing the recent IOS update to 16.1.2, Siri talked to me about everything I asked her. Now she will only communicate with my iPhone 11's phone screen. I am visually impaired and I need to be able to hear Siri. I use Siri to find the day, date, time, battery level of iPhone 11, weather, turn on and off my lights, turn on and off and pause and resume my Apple TV. Now she listens but will not respond with voice, only with typed text on my phone screen.

Hi RebekkahRoseRyan,

Re: "Siri : will not respond with voice, only with typed text on my phone screen."

Seems there may be a Siri setting on your iPhone that needs changing.

Go to Settings  > Accessibility > Siri > choose "Always Speak Responses"

If needed:

If you find you still need to turn off screen responses:

Go to Settings  > Siri & Search > Tap Siri Responses > then choose an option below Spoken Responses.

Eg: You can turn off: "Always Show Siri Captions" if it is on

or

You can turn off: "Always Show Speech" if it is on

If needed:

Here's a link to the Apple Support Article containing the info on those settings, and more:
