Buying apps on App Store with Gift Card

I bought a $9.99 app on the App Store with a $50 gift card but the remaining balance is $39.12. Was there tax in the purchase with though I bought it with a gift card?

Tax is charged on all purchases from the App Store and iTunes Store, regardless of your default payment method.

You can see that on the invoice.

Check your mailbox and see the invoice.
