Yahtzee app by Scopely on an IPhone 13

I'm having a problem with the Yahtzee app by Scopely not refreshing while I'm playing against another human on my iPhone 13. I have to go out of the app and wait for a notification to know that the other person has played. I'm guessing it is some kind of setting that I need to change, but I don't know what it is. I've contacted Scopely about this but so far haven't found a solution.

See this for troubleshooting an app, If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support

If that does not help, you will need to get back in contact with the app developer. They are responsible for troubleshooting their app, since they are 3rd party apps.
