Launchpad does not save positions after restart or log out. M1 Max Macbook Pro on Ventura.

I've tried researching across the web for a solution, I saw suggestions about running the following commands:

killall Dock
defaults write com.apple.dock ResetLaunchPad -bool true

I ran both, and after organizing all my icons once again after the launchpad reset, I still can't seem to get them to remember their positioning. I've rebooted several times, tried logging out, tried shutting down, everything you can imagine and it just doesn't save their positions. The odd thing is it's just a few things that don't remember their positions. My last 2 pages get swapped every time, I want the page with the 6 folders to be the last page. I move them there and still every time I restart my computer either via the restart button or via shutting down and starting back up the next morning they're back to how they were.

Hello ,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

We were able to find this:

"Organize apps in Launchpad

  • Move an app on a page: Drag an app to a new location on the same page.
  • Move an app to another page: Drag the app to the edge of the screen, then release it when the page you want appears.
  • Create an app folder: Drag an app over another app.
  • Rename a folder: Click the folder to open it, click its name, then enter a new name.
  • Add an app to a folder: Drag the app over the folder.
  • Remove an app from a folder: Drag the app out of the folder."

More details can be found here: Use Launchpad to view and open apps on Mac

If you follow the previous article to make changes, do they safe or do you notice the same thing? Also, which macOS version do you currently have?

Cheers!

Yes, of course I have done those steps many times. I've re-arranged my launchpad many many times in the past. I have tons of folders setup and each page I dedicated to a specific category of apps eg: Design, Development, Productivity, System Administration/Utilities, etc.

I never had an issue with this until now. I am literally afraid to restart my Mac or shut it down due to the amount of time it takes to re-arranged the icons to how I had it. Like I mentioned, the icons will stay in place until I shut down or restart my Mac. Once I've done either of those things then I open my Launchpad again, they've reset places again. I am running Ventura 13.01 on a M1 Max Macbook Pro with 64GB of RAM.
