Final Cut Pro has partially frozen, wont load and wont quit

My Final Cut Pro 10.6.1 has partially frozen, won't load and won't quit. I can't edit or watch anything and can't restart my macbook pro (2015) to give it a shake up. I'm on a deadline with these videos.

I'd love some help!

I know nothing of computers so the FCP help for dummies version is what I seek- or could it be a mac thing?

TIA

Heidi

Press Command-Option-Escape, select Final Cut Pro and click "Force Quit". Does it work?

If everything is frozen, the final solution is to press and hold the power button for a few seconds, until your mac shuts off completely.

Start your mac again.

Try to start FCP and immediately press and hold Command and Option keys. A dialog appears. Click Delete Preferences.

The application will start in a default state, and open an "Untitled" library. Reopen the library you were working on, set the preferences the way you like them, and try again.
