iPad chimes when text comes in.

Every time a text comes in to the phone, the iPad chimes. I have gone to settings and turned off notifications. It still chimes.

Hey there Pleaseassist1,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand you need help with silencing the notification sound for Messages on your iPad. You mentioned they are coming through your iPhone, but the notification is on your iPad. First, if you don't want Messages to come through to your iPad at all, do the following:

  1. On your iPad open Settings > Messages
  2. Turn off (disable) iMessage

Additionally, you can go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding, and disable your iPad that may be enabled there. You can read more about that here: Forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your Mac or iPad - Apple Support

If you still want to receive text messages on your iPad, but just need the notification sound adjusted, let's check the following:

  1. On your iPad open Settings > Notifications
  2. Scroll down and tap on Messages
  3. If you want to see Notifications, just not hear them:
    1. Tap Sounds
    2. Choose None
  4. If you don't want any Messages Notifications:
    1. Turn off (disable) Allow Notifications

Additional guidance: Change or turn off iPad sounds - Apple Support

Reply back with additional details or concerns.

Best regards.
