How to get my phone off from SOS only mode so i can use my cellular service

how do I get out of SOS mode my iphone 12 pro max is stuck in sos mode. I've tried forced restart, turning cellular data off and on, checking for carrier updates (there aren't any). I still have a physical sim and not an e-sim. On prolonged hold with carrier. Any other ideas?

If you see SOS or "SOS only" in the status bar, your device isn't connected to a network, but you can still make emergency calls.

If you see No Service, Searching, or SOS on your iPhone or iPad
