From what I am reading APFS is not compatible with a Fusion Drive and causes crashes. I have a Fusion Drive and am running APFS with Mojave successfully in Dec 22. Anyone care to comment on this please?

Not true. I ran APFS on my 2013 27” iMac with a Fusion drive and Mojave with no issues at all. If/when you move to Catalina or later APFS becomes mandatory in fact. When someone has trouble they tend to immediately blame whatever they did last as the cause. There is nothing magical about a Fusion drive. They are simply an HD and a SSD combined in software to appear to the system as a single drive.
Now wait for someone else to come along and warn that their system blew up in their face when they formatted to APFS. You already know that’s not true since you are successfully using APFS with your Fusion drive.

Yes, as you have discovered, partitioning is no longer necessary with APFS. The user creates volumes within the APFS container and those volumes share the total storage available. The only reason a user would want to partition is if they wanted use a different format for some reason.
Great, I thought it was odd! I have successfully updated all my Macs and back up disks to APFS now as, for instance, I have a 5Tb master which previously I partitioned for each Mac and was always running out of space in partitions but as APFS regards the whole disk as shared space that prob no longer exists! Thanks for your help, yes let's see what else people say...
