Macbook Air M1 2020 doesn't charge

It is one year old.

This one has two ports. Non of them work with the charging cable that came with the Mac.

However, the top one works with only some charging cables I found in my house. Charging only works on the top on, not the bottom one. The bottom on recognizes portable hard drive. The top one doesn't. So what the heck is wrong?

Charging cables that doesn't charge on the top port, works on other devices, so nothing wrong with the cables.

Hi there Neguah,

We wanted to set the expectation that not all cables are rated to charge a MacBook Air, so that could explain why some cables work while others do not.

Moving forward with troubleshooting, it does sound like the charging cable that came with your Mac may need to be replaced seeing as other cables you've tried do work with charging it.

Regarding your Mac not charging with one of the ports you can use to connect the charging cable, we found a link that has the next steps to try for resolving this, including having your Mac inspected by a tech as one of the last steps: If your Mac battery won’t charge

Cheers!

had this issue on mine for an 8+month stretch of time and also had kernel panics included. i had to unplug each port on everything make sure they’re clean and when you plug it to your mac try to slightly wiggle it while it’s going in to make sure everything is lining up. it only got me so far until i had to buy a completely new charger. the new charger cord stopped all the issues good luck
