Microphone Compatibility for Apple TV and Sing
With Apple Sing just announced, does anyone know of any Bluetooth compatible microphones that will work with Apple TV?
would be a great stocking filler for the kids this Christmas

We have achieved success and have been having fun. We ordered the Rockville RKI65BT Dual UHF Wireless Microphones+Bluetooth Karaoke Mic Interface https://a.co/d/1an8IZ8
It has a 3.5mm and a 1/4” output so you connect it to an external speaker. It also includes audio enhancing features like reverb so you can sound a little better. We have it connected to a guitar amp. The singing comes out the amp and the music comes out our Apple TV/HomePod.
(I would love it if you could just pair a BT mic with the ATV and have the app integrate the audio but oh well)
Other simpler, cheaper options include getting Mics that have their own built in speakers in the mic itself. There seem to be a lot of very inexpensive choices out there but I don’t know how well they work.

I bought this HDMI-based mixer and it works well:
Sound Town Wireless Microphone... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083H43MKM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Put it between you Apple TV and TV and it mixes the mic seamlessly with the audio from the Apple TV.
Only issue is the quality of the included wireless mics. Their wireless connection as frequently dropped for me, so I bought these wired mics and everything is fine:
Rockville RMIC-SR Handheld DJ Vocal Recording Wired Microphone+Cables+Mic Case,Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089B68C3L?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_dp_52243H658GK302HT342A
I bought these mics since they are 600 Ohms which is what the mixer is compatible with per the instructions.
I understand what you want to do. However, I don't see anything in the Apple Music Sing information that indicates it will either require or support a microphone. Apple never mentions the word "karaoke" and I'd guess that's intentional. My reading of the available information is that you can sing along with the music that comes out of the speakers of whatever device you're using. However, I don't see any indication that you can hook up a microphone so that your voice also comes out of the speakers the way it would in a karaoke machine. But, as I said, I may have missed something.
Something like this could work. Put this between your Apple TV and your TV via HDMI. It will mix the mics with the audio from the Apple TV.

Aside from the head shaking moment of viewing some responses trying to convince someone that they don’t really need what they’re asking (that isn’t all that helpful), if you are having a karaoke party, you really do need the singer’s voice to be amplified. Otherwise their voice gets lost in the general party noise and isn’t as fun.
I never said you don’t need what you want. Nor do I see that anyone else said anything like that. I pointed out that what you want does not currently appear to be an option and that, if you want it, you should let Apple know. Use the feedback link already provided.
I found this thread because the minute I heard about the new song feature, my immediate thought was “what about a microphone?”

We happen to have a small amp and microphone so I’m going to try that. Music will come out the Apple TV/HomePod and vocals out the amp. We’ll have to see if that causes any feedback problems.
Hi Iris, I was thinking of getting my son a karaoke machine for christmas. We already have 4K apple TV's on all the TV's in the house and with this new Apple Sing feature, I thought it made sense to see if there is compatible hardware for this rather than buying a stand alone karaoke machine. Make sense?

Lets hope they (or a hardware manufacturer) sports the opportunity. Doesn't seem like a difficult thing to address
Well, for the Apple TV, I think it would require all new hardware as they don't have any kind of microphone capability at this time.
You should definitely suggest this to Apple:
And, I could be completely wrong!

My thoughts only, havnt tried it yet:
apple tv 3rd gen (2022)
homepod connectivity as a default speaker instead of tv
we’ll pair the mic to apple tv in remote and other devices
play apple sing
isnt our voice should be heard thru the homepods speakers?
what to u think,
is that the way?
There is no indication that what you want to do would work at all even if you had a compatible Apple TV which, you apparently don’t. The announcement says that Sing will be compatible with the new Apple TV 4K. As the 3rd gen Apple TV doesn’t run tvOS it is highly unlikely it will ever work with Sing.

What am I missing?
I think what you’re missing is that Apple hasn’t provided the features you’re looking for in Sing and the Apple TV.
You can let them know what you’d like to see in future iterations here:
So, maybe you should tell Apple? Use the feedback link provided above.
Use a home theatre system with a receiver and a mic input?
It's not clear to me what you'd need a microphone for. It sounds like it's just a way for you to sing along with what is coming through the speakers, albeit with a lot more control of what comes out of the speakers. Perhaps I'm missing something?

I had the same exact thought. A mic would be fun to sing into for my daughter. Bluetooth Mic would be great
I suspect the latency could be a problem.
You should definitely let Apple know how you'd like the feature to evolve.
