My Macbook is overheating... started to heat in the last weeks... for the last 24 hours it is very hot and ventilators are constantly running (noisy) and I am using cooling pad as well.

If an SMC Reset doesn't help, then run EtreCheck to look for possible software issues. Post the report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper.
You may also want to disconnect all external devices from the laptop in case one of them is causing a problem.
