I have an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) running Monterey 12.6.1 that I purchased on January 7, 2017. I am almost certain, but want to make sure, that I can’t upgrade to Ventura.
I also want to make sure that I have no other non kludgey option other than to buy a new Mac.
Could this be? I have to buy new hardware to run the latest version of osx?

You can't. Neither can I. A Late 2015 iMac doesn't have the hardware to support Ventura.
Thanks. Just wanted to make absolutely certain before I purchased a new Mac. To add insult to injury you can’t buy a 27” package you have to order a Mac Studio and Studio display separately.
You're welcome. You can always hold off and see if Apple does a larger iMac in the near future.
