How to fix Pages in Safari from repeatedly CRASHING?

New to Pages, but not Apple (on a MacBook Pro 2017 using Ventura--all updated, I'd even dumped Pages fully from my computer and restarted since that always works on iPhones. No luck), I tried to use a format in Pages and it crashed..again and again and again. I mean every 3-5 minutes CRASH.

So I sought help from my fellow Apple community. No luck. So in frustration I reached out to Apple get support and made an appointment for them to call me back.

First I spoke with a female voice named (?) Daejsh. She had me to various things and seemed a bit on edge when my computer wouldn't do what she said it should. Finally she had me type more in the format to see when it would crash. Putting me on hold to talk to a colleague, WHAM Pages crashed. Again.

When she came back she had Rick take over. Senior, allegedly. After 18 min. of typing, he told me how fast I typed (well yes, I'd worked as a journalist) and said he'd send me his contact details so I could reach out if (IF?) it happened again.

As soon as he rang off, and forgot to send me his contact details, CRASH. In the format. So I went to the same page and called immediately, getting Adam. He wanted to think it through, saying he remembered this once, not common (well, that's what happens to me) and suggested it MIGHT be an issue of the format, so had me type without a format. Nothing crashed. He wanted me to respond IF it did or did not later, to allegedly get the engineers on it.

He also said he'd send me his contact info, and asked me to check it came through--and it had. Adam was much better at this clearly. More trustworthy.

So I can use Pages, but apparently NOT the book format I wanted to use for a--yes, book. I'll recontact him tomorrow but all I can say is it is kind of weird that a company like Apple's word processing is so sketchy when Google Docs NEVER ever did that.

These support communities are not Apple Support, but rather communities of fellow users volunteering their time to help one another. Google Docs was not written by the Pages product team… 🧐 You should be using Pages v12.2.1 on Ventura 13.0.1.

Whenever Pages crashes, or you choose force quit when it hangs, the next time it is launched, it will attempt to use its last saved execution state. To break that vicious cycle, you press and hold the shift key while launching Pages. This is only necessary on occasion of the first sentence.

If it still crashes after the second paragraph, then boot your Mac into Safe Boot mode. This will be somewhat slower as it is performing Disk First Aid in the background, clearing System cache files, and rebuilding the font database. Launch Pages in this boot mode. Then, reboot normally, and launch Pages again. Has its behavior improved?
