Thanks but that is not really my problem. I bought an iPhone SE for myself and transferred the info from my existing XR then gave the XR to my son. He has a new Apple ID. I did not - but probably should have - delete everything from the XR. I did delete some personal stuff - some apps, etc. - question is — can I now delete everything from the XR and let him set it up the way he wants. My big concern is that the XR has my photos on it but since the photos app is identified with his Apple ID, I think I can delete the photos without affecting my SE.

Am I correct?

It does solve your problem. Follow those instructions in the link for the XR. He can then set it up.
