Can't access external shared drives Mac mini server Catalina

Since upgrading to Catalina, I was unable to access external drives attached to my Mac Mini, from my other much newer Macs running Mac OS Ventura via wifi. There must be a new permission I'm missing, but can't work out what it is. Sharing from the Mini is active, and I can access files on the mini, but not on the network. Had no such issues on MacMini 2012 running High Sierra.

I had this problem today and luckily found the answer elsewhere! For others encountering this late, like me, here is the answer:

To solve this issue you have to do the following:

1.     Open System preferences

2.     Click on Security & Privacy

3.     Click on the Lock in lower left corner to unlock

4.     Click on Full Disk Access

5.     Click on the + button

6.     Navigate to /usr/sbin

7.     Seach for smbd and select it

8.     Click open

Now the SMB daemon should have permission to connect to the external drive.
