Apple Studio Display

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction, I've very recently purchased a Mac Studio along with an Apple Studio Display Monitor (27inch), I work in Pre-Press using illustrator/Photoshop etc, my problem is that when I open or create files I can't see any tint values below 13%, I had a customer supplied file that looked like certain areas were white, in reality they were 10% black but the monitor does not display them, I've tried saving the files as PDF and viewing in Acrobat to ensure it's not an illustrator issue but the same file views exactly the same in any application. I've created files from scratch all with the same viewing result, also viewed the same file on different Macs and they all view correctly, has anyone else had a similar issue, could this be a faulty monitor?

Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

Dave

Try re-calibrating the monitor profile. There is a tool in System Preferences﹥Displays﹥Color Profile﹥Customize﹥[+]﹥Display Calibrator Assistant﹥…

For best results, use a separate colorimeter instead, like the ones from X-Rite, to base it on instrumental measurements instead of your eyes. X-Rite display colorimeters - X-Rite.

Thanks for your reply, I couldn't seem to access the calibrator assistant so I went down the route of wiping and re-formating the hard drive. I re-installed Monterey, (it was running Ventura) re-loaded all my graphics apps and it is now working as it should, bit odd. I'm pretty sure this had nothing to do with Ventura as the same problem was evident when the Mac came out of the box when it was running Monterey.

Hopefully this may help anyone else that has a similar issue?
