Peeling fingertips

Has any one experienced severe peeling and dead skin building up on fingertips after long hours of use on latest Mac book pros and iPhone 12 pro

my fingers are in such bad state they are cracking open and bleeding

they won’t heal

ive resorted to wearing bandaids on fingers and or wearing cotton gloves

but track pad doesn’t work with gloves

getting extremely concerned

ive read numerous accounts of these devices causing same issues with others

if any one has figured out what it is please tell me so I can get medical help

if it’s nickel, or electrical charge what ever I need to know

i will not be able to work soon if this keeps going

I’ve contacted Apple about this before, and they said they had never seen or heard of these issues with their products. Yet I’ve read so many complaints here in this forum and on the web.

if I don’t use my devices for a few days the issue starts to heal, but comes straight back when used for a few hours

there is obviously an issue with these products. Ive been an an apple product user sine 1990’s and love Apple products

but since this issue I’m looking at other products so I can continue being able to work with out so much daily ongoing pain

You can also buy thin gloves that are specifically designed to be used with touchscreens.

That way, you can put lotion on your fingers, put on your touch-screen-ready gloves, and get your skin moistened all day without scrubbing any more skin off your fingertips.

I know someone who has the skin on their hands and fingers split and crack (worse during the Winter), but not the peeling of the skin or fingertips like you have. They don't know exactly the cause (washing dishes, cleaning chemicals, dry winter weather all contribute), but their doctor has prescribed them medicated cream to help heal the skin. They do need to be careful handling items since touching things can initiate a flare up or exacerbate a current flare up.

As the others have mentioned, you do need to consult doctors to determine the cause of the problem and what you can do to prevent it. You may need to at least temporarily use a glove (one which can activate the touch screens for the iPhone).

its something I’m touching

Yes, it is! Not only touching, but scrubbing the skin completely off! Stop using touchscreens and trackpads right away and seek legitimate medical advice.

Screens and trackpads are made of glass, which is considered inert. (You are NOT being poisoned.)

Both the your devices have substantial built-in features that allow you to use Voice commands.

We recently had a new boiler installed, and the plumber, working on 3 inch steam lines on a ladder overhead said to his phone across the room, "Siri, message Jack and have him get me another length of 1 1/4 inch copper tubing."

For your Mac, use a rolling-ball mouse or similar device instead of the built-in trackpad.

I use a rolling mouse, and I use it in my non-dominant hand for a variety of reasons. My experience is that you can train your non-dominant hand to use a mouse pretty well in about a week.
