I installed the button at the right of the screen on a previous iPad because the home button broke. I don't need it on this iPad but I can't figure out how to uninstall it. Does anyone know?

As illustrated, you have enabled Assistive Touch. To disable:
Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch > AssistiveTouch - set to OFF

Turn off assistive touch in settings.
