How do I search the iTunes Store?

Okay, the previous answers provided by Apple staff are incomplete.

Open Music, which is the new name for iTunes (like it needed one).

Type in the name of the song for which you're searching in the search box at the top of the left hand column. This will search your iTunes library.

Click the iTunes Store around 7 options below the search field.

This does NOT open the iTunes Store, but rather the Apple Music paid subscription "service".

At the top left of the main window will be a left-pointing arrow, "<". Click this.

NOW you should be in the iTunes Store.

There used to be a band in the early 80s called We've Got A Fuzzbox And We're Gonna Use It.

Steps are correct in what they suggest. But what you see may not be exactly what is expected.

The first thing is to make sure the iTunes Store is enabled in the Music App Settings ➜ General ➜ Show ➜ iTunes Store.

With that done, you can use the search box at the top of the side panel, to make a search, once the search completes, there should be 3 tabs at the top right corner one of which should be the iTunes Store. Click on that to see results from the iTunes Store:

If the tabs are not shown, tap on the < on the top left corner of the screen to go back to the main search results screen. You may need to click that more than once to get back to where the search location tabs appear.
