How can I de-consolidate my iTunes music library?

Is there a way to de-consolidate my iTunes music library? I want all my music in one list of songs, instead of embedded into 'organized' folders and subfolders.

Is there any way to do this, other than spending hours and hours of tedious rummaging through nested folders to find, and manually move, each individual music file, back into one huge alphabetical 2,500+ list of .mp3 song titles?

Consolidating copies files located outside of the media folder into it, and arranges them using the standard iTunes pattern of <Media Folder/[Music/]<Album Artist>/<Artist>/## <Name>.<Ext>. The process is not reversible. Files already inside the media folder will be rearranged to the same pattern in response to metadata changes if Keep iTunes Media folder organized is selected under Edit > Preferences > Advanced.

To impose your own layout turn Keep organized off, then see my script CustomRenamer to impose your own pattern. It is quite some time since I wrote it, and I cannot recall precisely how it will handle two songs with the same name if they are all going to be lumped in the same folder. Backup what you have now before you run the script so you can reset if anything doesn't work as expected. Start with a small selection to make sure you get a feel for how it operates before trying to process the whole library.
