AppleTV remote no longer controlling volume

ATV remote controlled a receiver’s volume. After working for years, it suddenly stopped controlling the volume. I tried deleting the device and reading but it didn’t work. I’m guessing a recent TVOS update broke it? Anyone else having issues?
