Beats Solo3 shuts down in cold weather

My beats solo3 shut down at freezing 32 degrees or colder within minutes regardless of battery level. It has to be a temperature sensor in the headphones that shuts it down and not the depleted battery level because when I bring them back inside side they function perfectly with a topped off battery level usually around 95%. Am I correct in this assessment?
