Is AssistiveTouch helpful for vision impaired?

A friend is severely vision impaired. He cannot distinguish the apps or press the app to open them. Is the assistive touch helpful for the vision impaired person?

Assistive Touch is largely a feature intended for folks with differing physical or motor requirements or preferences, and less with differing vision requirements or preferences.
