Blurry / fuzzy screen text / fonts

Hello

I have had my MacBook Pro for 3 days. I find the screen fonts are not very clear or sharp. Text appears quite fuzzy and blurry all the time, e.g. when viewing web pages, reading the help files, or even now - the text on this message I'm writing right now looks fuzzy. Also, the smaller the text, the fuzzier it gets making it very hard to read. I have tried turning off 'font smoothing' in System Preferences/Appearance, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Does anyone know of any solutions to this problem? I'd be really grateful for your help.

Thanks

MacBook Pro 13-inch 2.66Ghz, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

If this is your fist Apple computer and your coming from a PC. Then you may notice a difference. Apple uses a slightly different way of smoothing fonts on LCD screens. Some prefer Microsoft's way and some like Apple's. I do know especially if your using Firefox and not Safari the fonts appear even worse. I have found that too high of brightness level can sometimes make this even worse. So try lowering the brightness level some.

Thanks, dude.

I have a Genius Bar appointment on Monday. I'll ask them to look at my screen, and we'll compare with others notebook in store. I've already compared the fonts in my screen with the screen fonts in a friend's MacBook. Fonts are much shaper on his screen, so I think there might be a problem with my laptop.

Thanks for your input.

How'd it go at the genius bar? I am in the same boat, I bought a MBP 15" last week, love the machine but cant adjust to the blurry text. Have tried numerous recommended fixes and tools, from what Ive read though its just the way Apple does it - and you either are ok with it or you aren't.

I am probably going to return mine and go back to PC, I read and write all day an nod sharp fonts.

Hello everyone

Thanks very much for all your replies, in particular to S.U. for trying to help.

I had my appointment with the Genius Bar. Apparently there is nothing wrong with my laptop - it's just the way it's supposed to be. We compared it to another laptop in store and the screen fonts just looked the same. Now that I know all is ok, I feel I'm starting to getting used to the Mac screen fonts.

Regards
