Camera disabled by some profile/device manager

Hello

The built-in camera has been disabled on all my home MacBooks (MacBook Pro 2020 and MacBook 2015) ever since I logged into App Store using my personal Apple ID on a MacBook Pro at work. The work MacBook Pro manages cameras using some profile/device manager, but it is unreachable remotely, hence the problem.

I searched for how-tos for hours with no luck. Please tell me the steps to be taken to get the camera working on the home MacBooks. I have a feeling it's something to do with the profile/device manager tinkering with the Apple ID.

Thank you in advance.

Hello eadwig,

We would like to see how we can help you with Profile Manager. Are you able to sign out of your Apple ID on the work Mac? If so, that would be the best way to move forward. Check out this link for more informationa bout removing a device from a Profile Manager: Remove a device from Profile Manager - Apple Support

  1. "In the Profile Manager  sidebar, select Devices, then select the device you want to remove.
  2. Click Delete, then select from two options:
    • Select Revert to Placeholder if you want to skip the step of attempting to remove the device over the network and simply mark it as no longer being remotely managed.
    • Select Unenroll to attempt to remove the device over the network, and if successful, convert the entry to a placeholder.

You can remove the device placeholder at any time by deleting by deleting it from the device list."

Cheers!

Hello

Thanks for the reply. I tried to look for Profile Manager on the MacBook Pro at work where I signed in with no luck. Since then, I tried resetting SCM, PRAM and reinstalling macOS only to end up with the same No Camera Available while no green lamp was turned on and Apple ID was not used to sign in.

The only saving grace was an external webcam worked with the private MacBook Pro. Can we call it a hardware problem or else please let me know what the cause may be.
