MBP Power Adapter Issue

My OEM MBP 67W power adapter seems to short out periodically. Had to try various wall plugs first. (Those same wall plugs worked fine for my iPad.) Now the battery icon shows charging going on/off, and is touchy. This is new MBP, 13", M2,2022.

Anyone else having a similar experience?

Hey ZinnerEE,

What it sounds like to us, you may have a customized settings on your MacBook Pro M2. You can change this setting to your preference.

The below is found in the article Charge the MacBook Pro battery - Apple Support, but you can find a lot more details in the article itself.

Customize battery settings. You can set different options for your battery in System Settings.

• Optimized Battery Charging: This feature helps to reduce the wear on your battery and improve its lifespan by learning your daily charging routine. It delays charging the battery past 80% when it predicts that you’ll be plugged in for an extended period of time, and aims to charge the battery before you unplug. In System Settings, click Battery in the sidebar, click the information button by Battery Health, then turn on Optimized Battery Charging.

• Low power mode: This option reduces energy usage and increases battery life. This is a good option for travel or when you’re away from a power source for an extended period of time. In System Settings, click Battery, then choose from the options in the “Low power mode” dropdown.

• High power mode: Available on the 16-inch MacBook Pro with Apple M1 Max. When selected, your Mac allows the fans to run at higher speeds to maximize performance during intensive workloads. In System Settings, go to Battery, then choose from the options in the “High power mode” dropdown.

Let us know if you have further questions.

Have a great day!

Thanks for response.OBTW: I forgot to say that my MBP charge was under 10% and I had been alerted to charge the laptop. In any case, I read the recommended sources and tweaked my power selection some.

I don't have a way to troubleshoot the power adaptor or cable. Wiggling the adapter seemed to help. If this persist or occurs again I will take them to an Apple Store for evaluation per the recommendation listed in "If your USB-C power adapter isn't charging your Mac notebook ".
