Images/GIF’s sending as pieces of code.

I upgraded to an iPhone 14 and sometimes when I send images or gif’s to someone (who has a Samsung), it’ll show a piece of code instead. It never happened with my old phone (an iPhone 8). Why is this happening and how can it be resolved?

Accalia175,

Sounds good! If you find the issue persists, we recommend contacting your wireless carrier next. Any texts or pictures sent to a non-iPhone user will be SMS/MMS, and your carrier will be in the best position to further help with an issue related to either of those services.

Have a good one.

Hi Accalia175,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with sending photos and GIFs to a friend with a Samsung phone. We'd like to help.

Since those images are being sent with SMS/MMS messaging, it's possible that you need to adjust some of your Settings on your iPhone to get those to send properly. Follow these steps to get that done:

  1. Click Settings on your iPhone
  2. Choose Messages
  3. Enable Send as SMS
  4. Enable MMS Messaging

Once completed, try to resend a new image to your friend to check if that works now.

Cheers!
