macOS Monterey 12.2.1 Music.app 1.2.2.40 doesnʻt search iTunes Store SOLVED

PROBLEM:

I tried to search the iTunes Store by using the search field in the left-hand column, but it only searches my library.

STATUS:

Preferences:

I have the

Preferences>General>Show>iTunes Store

checked off.

Search Focus Options

Following other peopleʻs suggestions, I realized that the search focus options in the upper

right hand of the screen

[Your Library] [Apple Music] [iTunes Store]

that was described in other peopleʻs suggestions was NOT SHOWING.

SOLUTION

Unknowingly, Search Focus was set on [My Library]

Eventually, i noticed a backward

[ < ]

in the upper left hand corner of the screen, and

i needed to Exit [My Library]

by clicking on the [ < ] twice got me out of what apparently had been a previous search in my library, revealing the search focus buttons noted above. The status message in the middle of the screen said "Searching Your Library".

i was then able to Select [iTunes Store]

clicking on the [iTunes Store] button changed the status message to "Searching iTunes Store".

Entering search terms in the search field[ 🔍 Search ]

after pressing the return key [ ⏎ ], the results of the search in the iTunes Store appeared, and works as the older Music.app search.
