First Time Charge

Hey everyone!

I do understand that upon purchase of your new iphone, you will need to do an 8 hours charge of the phone. My question is: Before doing the 8 hours charge, do you need to drain your battery before charging fully for the very time time for 8 hours?

I did not drain my battery but went ahead with the 8 hours charge. My iphone 4 works fine I think but i wonder if it will affect the battery in any ways?

Thank you! 🙂

Don't know why you think this, but I never did any of this and my original iphone was doing fine after over three years when we retired it last week.

Whoever told you that is wrong. It might have been true for nickel-cadmium batteries, but is not true for lithium ion batteries. The battery in your phone totally charges in four hours, so your adviser is immediately wrong. There's plenty of information on the web if you google "iPhone battery care" or similar. For example: http://www.apple.com/batteries/

Don't worry about your battery. It's pretty idiot-proof, and requires no special treatment when you receive your phone.
