Alternative to Contacts?

Sadly, Contacts on my Mac is corrupted. Tossing the prefs, restart, opening Contacts while holding down the Shift key - all of the "tricks," don't seem to work and I can't trust the app to function properly. Is there a good alternative to Contacts that folks can recommend? Thanks!

I don't know of any unless you can adapt a spreadsheet or database.

If you want to work on why Contacts isn't working for you, start with this...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?

Thank you again for your reply. I did boot up in Safemode - with the same results in Contacts. Ugh. What seems to help is quitting Contacts and then restarting Contacts holding down the Shift key. Drag and drop then works within Contacts. Sadly, I've come to the point where I just don't trust Contacts to behave properly. It seems like such a relatively simple program, so I'm dumbfounded as to why it's so broken - and why me? Still looking for alternatives.

Whew… My problem may be with iCloud. Within Contacts there is iCloud and On My Mac - neither of which match up. When I log into iCloud.com, Contacts there don’t match iCloud Contacts on my mac. Something is seriously amiss. Now I’m not sure which is the most up-to-date Contacts. Stressed. I’d like to have Contact On My Mac be the “master” that shoots out and updates my other devices. I REALLY liked it when I could plug in my iPhone to my computer and sync it. Done. Now I’m navigating this iCloud thing and life is not better - it’s worse.
