Ipod Classic Will Not Sync with iTunes

My iPod Classic will no longer sync with iTunes on my Windows 10 PC. I am running the latest iTunes software version and using the correct iPod drivers. The settings show that the iPod is full of "other" content, leaving no room for anything else. I read this happens when the drive has become corrupted and needs to be restored. However, when I try doing just that, I receive a 1439 error message saying that my iPod cannot be restored. I've also tried pressing the center button and Menu button simultaneously, but that hasn't worked either. Is there any fix for all this, or is my iPod shot?

Try reformatting the iPod, or the DFU restore process. It may also help to ask a Mac owning friend to try to restore it for you, which reformats the drive in HFS+, then you can restore on Window which will rebuild the drive as Fat32 but in the process rebuild data structures that were left alone by a reformat to the same format operation.

Apple no longer service iPod classic models. There is plenty of capacity for reallocations. A 160Gb classic has room for 16,384 if memory serves.

I checked out the page you were good enough to send me. Perhaps these are the "stats" you wanted:

Retracts: 105

Reallocs: 254

Pending Sectors: 17

PowerOn Hours: 113

Start/Stop: 93

Temp: Current 25c

Temp: Min 8c

Temp: Max 43c

Anyway, when I was in disc mode, I attempted another restore, and lo and behold, it worked this time. I did a drive scan and repair, and it said it was successful. All good, right? I want to resync my iPod with iTunes, but the icon doesn't appear on the screen. How do I get iTunes to recognize my iPod again and sync up?

Despite restoring my iPod repeatedly, I still have those 17 pending sectors. Now, when the device is plugged in, it freezes iTunes. After working on it for several hours, it's become clear that I'm not going to be able to fix this myself, so what are my options? Can it be fixed at an Apple repair center, or does it need replacing?
