Time lapse video—not a slide show—from still photos

I wonder if there is a way to make a time lapse video from separate still pictures. 

For example, if I want to show what the 5 PM view of the mountains outside my window looks like over the course of a year, I’d take a still picture at 5 PM every day for the year and then make a time lapse video from the still pictures. This would be a fast time lapse—not a slide show. 

Is there a way to do that? Preferably without third party software. Thank you very much.
