AIG Loss and Theft

Why can't a claim with AIG be cancelled? Right when I submitted the claim I was being contacted that the phone was found. I submitted the claim at 8:30am and by 9:15 I was trying to contact them to cancel the claim. This is just so ridiculous you can't cancel a claim in this day and age!
