Apple Mac Photos and Nikon Z9 Raw Files

Nikon Z9 is listed on the RAW Support page of for macOS Ventura since November 8,2022: Digital camera RAW formats supported by iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura - Apple Support

Are you taking the photos in an uncompressed RAW format? What happens, when you try to add adjustments to a RAW photo from your Z9 in Photos for Mac? For me, the RAW support is showing as installed in the System Profile > Software.

I found the 'Lossless compression' setting works for my Z9 using Mac Ventura 13.01. Its been a whole year waiting for this.....

And imported DSC_1702.NEF RAW (54.0MB) - Photos can add adjustments to it, no problem.

You may want to test, if your Mac can at least handle the sample RAW files.

Do you see the RAW support for Nikon Z9 installed in the System Information?  menu, hold down the ⌥ key, then click system Information and scroll down to "Software".

I recently obtained a Z9 and have run into the same thing. In 13.1 I can see the thumbnails just looking at the photo card. In a few cases, I've seen thumbnails upon import to Photos... but as soon as I try to edit, they go black. Or the preview in Photos is black from the beginning.

I have yet to do the obvious thing, which is to experiment with all three NEF file types, but this is very frustrating.

Has anyone done that experiment?
