Can't trigger live loop individual cells with midi controller, only columns

Hi all,

I have hooked a midi controller (Arturia minilab mkII) to my computer and I am trying to trigger live loops with the 8 pads on the controller.

Using Midi Learn, I can manage to make the pads trigger entire columns in the live loops grid, like clicking the arrow up buttons below the columns:

In the Controller Assignment window, these assignments are listed as Global > Live Loops Scene > Column #:

But the same procedure does not work when I try to assign it to playing individual cells:

When I click an individual cell and then do Midi Learn and then tap the pad on the controller, the assignment shows up as Channel Strip > Selected Track > 4091:

And then if I tap the pad, nothing happens, the cell does not start playing.

I think the "midi controller part" works, because when I tap on the pad the corresponding assignment in the Controller Assignment window gets selected. But it seems Channel Strip > Selected Track > 4091 does not correspond to playing the cell.

If you have any idea how to solve this, that's greatly appreciated. I am using Logic Pro X 10.7.5.
