contacts and phone numbers not merging on messages

With latest update 16.1 - contact names and numbers do not merge on Messages. Also messages repeat each time I open my phone. I have tried reset by turning phone off and on - not working. I have tried manually matching. I have also checked settings in Messages. Nothing working.

Hey Blessmyheart,

Did you know that Apple recently released iOS 16.2? We recommend that you update your iOS to the latest version and then try again to see if you can reproduce the issue. How to update your device: Update your iPhone or iPad

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.
