After upgrading to the latest ventura 13.0.1 when editing a photo in the photo.app the rotate dial wouldn't show anymore - just the crop frame is shown.

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

Hey akom,

To rotate a photo or video, follow these steps below:

Click the Rotate button  in the toolbar to rotate the image counterclockwise. Continue clicking until you get the orientation you want. Option-click the button to rotate the image clockwise.

The user guide on Photos for Mac can be found here: Photo editing basics in Photos on Mac

If you still don't see the option, try force quitting the Photos app and then reopen it: How to force an app to quit on your Mac

Also, make sure that your Photos app is updated to the latest version: How to manually update apps on your Apple device

We hope this helps!

Best regards.
