How to set total # of Occurrences to a repeating event in iCal

I have events that last only a few weeks or months at a time (not forever). They are typically scheduled in a total number of times we meet. The calendar shows Ends After, but always puts 1 (week or month) and I can't change the total number of Occurrences. How do I change that number, it doesn't show a space for the number, it just shows up after selecting 'After'.
