Hi there,

I noticed the same issue. While my Gmail app displays BIMI logos, the same senders’ logos are nowhere to be seen on the iOS Mail app.

While I may not possess the pillars of knowledge that *other* respondents do, I think I might have an answer.

According to this website, it looks like the logos show only for mail sent to iCloud accounts. So, if you’re using a Gmail account (or any other email service provider) on the iOS app, it won’t support the BIMI because Apple apparently has a stricter verification process.

I hope this sounds less pretentious than *other* replies! And I do hope Apple fixes this. In the meantime, you can always use the Gmail app.

Cheers.

I see the bimi logo for the same provider in Gmail and Yahoo mail.

Different vendors can have different requiremwnts, and different implementations.

Apple mail doesn't show any email logo, that's my concern.

Of course! If this BIMI stuff were all working as you had expected, we would not even be having this discussion.

Hence my posting a pointer to how this works, and to what to verify.

Do we need to do anything extra for this

Read this: About BIMI support in Apple Mail - Apple Support

Then read this: Prepare your email server for BIMI support in Apple Mail - Support - Apple Developer

Then use those two documents to verify that the mail server involved meets the requirements.

Once the mail server is confirmed to meet the specified requirements, and with clients that have BIMI support, then check with Apple Support.

Verify the mail server meets the following requirements, including the linked documents:

Prepare your email server for BIMI support in Apple Mail - Support - Apple Developer

What other services might or might not do here might differ. Verify the requirements. For instance, Apple requires DKIM. Other services might or might not. In addition to the requirements outlined in the BIMI specification, Apple Mail clients require that a DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) signature be inserted by the mail provider. The signature must cover an Authentication-Results header (also from the mail provider) including a bimi statement. This additional requirement establishes a basis for Apple Mail clients to trust inserted BIMI headers.

As stated earlier, read the linked documents, and verify the mail server meets the requirements.

As for my understanding, I’ve set up DNS for use with mail servers and more recently variously with DMARC and DKIM and SPF. This isn’t appreciably different.

My primary interest in BIMI largely ends with whether I can use it as an additional trigger for spam filtering.

I don't think you understand the question. I have the same concern.

I've set up the following domain with BIMI and with VMC and it is showing in Google and Yahoo app with no problem.

The problem with Apple's Mail app on iOS 16.2 is that there isn't even a spot for the logo to show up. How is Apple claiming to support BIMI if there isn't even space for it?

Below is a screenshot of the same 2 emails. On the left i opened it from Yahoo app. On the right I opened it from Apple Mail app.

as you can see, Apple Mail app doesn't have any space for the logo.

Thank you for your response but you are missing the point of my question.

I am saying the Apple Mail app doesn't even have the front end design for where a logo would appear.

Look at a screenshot of my yahoo emails when I open it from my Apple Mail app vs when I open it from Yahoo mail app. In the Yahoo mail app there is ROOM for the the logo. In the Apple Mail app on iOS 16.2 there isn't even room for the logo. I have yet to see even one example of how BIMI would look like on an Apple Mail app.
