iOS 16.2 Gapless Playback

This situation is absolutely maddening. I’m trying out Apple Music, and am frequently getting gaps between tracks, where there should be none; both iPhone and iPad. But then if I go back to the same track change, it plays through with no problem. The issue exists regardless of whether I’m using Apple Music or Apple Music Classical. Things like Wagner operas, where the music is continuous, are pretty much ruined. I wonder if other streaming services, such as idagio or Presto Music would have the same issues on iOS. It would be very nice if this were resolved once and for all when iOS 17 comes out.

Same problem here with same phone and just like last year Apple made the same mistake in their update… pretty stupid a company like this makes the mistake 2 years in a row….

Very good news for this issue. Ipad os 16.3 got fixed, no more gaps between songs on music app

The problem is back on my iPhone 11 Pro with iOS 16.4, but the gap is not after every song. Seems quite randomly occurs.

This is a problem on macOS too. I wanted to comment that Foobar2000 worked for me too. Thank you to the person who mentioned it!

Currently experiencing the same issue. It frustratedly takes you out of the moment when listening to an album in which the artist intended to have a seamless transition between songs. Fix this Apple Music please!

I wish I had seen this before upgrading.

Same here (iPhone 13 mini with latest iOS): the same transition at times works as intended, at times has that annoying gap that renders listening to live recordings and workout mixes almost useless.

Not a great idea to be honest. I tried it last year. Took me hours to get all albums and separate songs I had as well on the phone and it didn't do the trick after I checked. Better to wait for the next update mate. Last wait was around 2,5 months as that's the service they give you @Apple......

Apple has become like a ****** hardware wholesaler of very expensive products. They don't test iOS updates before they release them and then have you wait for months before they fix a mistake they released a year before as well. And then they create this ****** forum where we can help each other fixing the errors their developers have created! Shame on Apple.

Hopefully soon, I'm not that keen on installing a development release (although being a release candidate it's most likely final) on my phone.

I'm already doing that on my PC after all (Windows user here: everything that gets pushed to Windows Update is a beta, if we're lucky).

This is such a frustrating issue! Listening to classical music with gaps between tracks that didn’t issue until phone updated to 16.3 last night is so absurd. It ruins the experience. Apple needs to fix this!!

Nice Dead reference. I am here for similar reasons as I don’t like jams being disrupted with a second or 2 gap.

I was listening to a ‘73 DS into EOTW and it was terrible for the gap to be there.

It's especially soul-crushing for deadheads, isn't it? I was listening to that sublime playing>ujb>dew>ujb>playing from 11/17/73, and Apple Music inserted a gap between each transition. I am on iOS 16.3.1. Keeping it Weir from Kolkata, India.

You live in Kolkata? I live in Pune! Haven’t met many Dead Heads here in India! That sounds like a lovely 2nd set with PITB -> UJB -> Dew -> UJB so I’ll need to look up that show. ‘73 is my favourite year.

6 months a year this option is disabled because they keep using the same wrong code with every software update. It’s so bloody simple but they made the mistake like 4 times so far in my experience. It will be fixed, but i do wonder why the manager of this part of their software had not been fired ! Apple Music sucks as a music app and Apple should be strong in music given all the hardware they offer for music experience. Will pay on Twitter and Facebook as well and would be good if other people do that as well. Thx for nothing mr. Cook
