When I try to get my mail from Mediacom I receive a message that the certificate is invalid. This is apparently a problem with the latest iOS upgrade. How can I validate the certificate and get my email?

Hello lucinda285,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. So we can provide relevant troubleshooting steps, can you tell us which device model, and OS version you're experiencing this behavior with? Are you getting this message when you add an email account to the Mail app, or when you try to send/receive an email? The more details, the better we can help.

To get started, let's make sure you have the right setting for your email account using the "Mail Settings Lookup" tool provided in the following link:

We hope this information is useful. Kind regards.

Hello lucinda285,

Let's use the steps below to boot your iMac into safe mode to see if that behavior still persists from there:

1. Shut down your Mac.
2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

You can also find those steps in this resource: How to use safe mode on your Mac

It can take a few extra minutes to boot into safe mode. Your screen may flash or flicker while in safe mode. Those behaviors are expected. Testing in safe mode runs a check on your disk, removes some cached files, and can help isolate conflicts with startup items. Once you've tested that behavior in safe mode, you can restart to leave safe mode.

Should that still persist, do you have any other email accounts set up on your iMac? If so, are they exhibiting the same behavior?

Do you have your Mediacom account set up on any other devices? If so, are you able to receive email on your other devices without any difficulties?

Let us know, and we'll keep moving forward based on those details.

I've been having same issues and don't know if it's mediacom or apple...I've been on the phone with mediacom five-six times and they keep telling me that they'll put out a "ticket" on the issue...It's very frustrating...I can get my emails from the mediacom web page (but not always). FYI, I was told by one of mediacom people that they installed a new system in December 2022, so that may be the cause for the problems (in my opinion).
